Humble pie department

Yesterday I wrote in a comment:

Tonight the USA plays Portugal but, rightly or wrongly, I just can’t take seriously the idea of Americans playing *football*. So I’ll have to settle for Germany v Ireland (though I think Ireland are doomed without Roy Keane).

Last night’s results:

The USA upset highly-rated Portugal 3-2 with a thrilling display of aggressive football.

Ireland held Germany to a 1-1 draw when Robby Keane kicked the leveller two minutes into extra time.

I’ll hold off making any more predictions until I find out whether Robby and Roy are related.
