Put the fun back into typing
Hey Dorothea, this might be the perfect reason for you to forget about the Macintosh and stick with Windows. In the comments on my typing post, Fredrik Lundh from PythonWare suggested a great way to put some fun back into your typing.
Gabe’s TypOmeter is a freeware Windows utility that measures how much you are typing and the speed you’re typing at:
It’s analogue, and everything is animated just like an old-fashioned speedometer!
In version 2, there are 17 indicators squeezed into the interface, and there are more than 56 (fiftysix!) graphical statistics to choose from regarding your typing, clicking and use of applications!
You can change between a variety of skins, and you can test your typing ability with the Test Yourself facility.
Check out the graphs on the Help page. This is unbelievable.

Gah. There are things that typists were not meant to know. I'm not sure what they are, but with 56 gauges, I'm sure they're on there somewhere.
Besides, I don't need more encouragement to type fast. ;)
