Thai chicken curry and AKMA

I went searching for a recipe for “thai chicken curry” and what should be third on the results list but Foodblog, an MT-based weblog packed with delicious sounding recipes. How does this sound for breakfast?

I almost never cook breakfast, but sometimes, on the weekend I’ll be hungry enough. Last Sunday’s included a sheep’s cheese omelette, some hungarian bacon, some pan-fried tomatoes, okra, mushrooms and a croissant…

Yum! There’s a photograph too. I’d love to get my hands on some of that “intensely salty and smoky” Hungarian bacon.

When I scrolled back up the main page, however, I got a bigger surprise. I’d ignored the first post, titled Nothing to do with food, because it didn’t have anything to do with food:

Any readers in the Chicago area should come out to the Sulzer Branch of the Chicago Public Library at 4455 N. Lincoln, Saturday October 5, where I’ll be attempting to explain what a weblog is, and how to start one. Also there will be a panel of some very smart and prominent bloggers that will no doubt tell me that I don’t know what I’m talking about. Come on out, it’s free it’ll be fun.

Learn more at my weblog weblog.

I was curious enough to follow the link and guess what? AKMA is one of the panel members, along with Jim McGee (McGee’s Musings), Nazarin Hamid (Absenter), Dan Hartung (Lake Effect), and Paul McCann (KIPLog and Foodblog).

I’m surprised that AKMA hasn’t mentioned it on his blog but he is modest and he has been preoccupied with cologne and the Digital ID World Conference.

Amazing the connections you find out here. AKMA even mentioned you and the path you found him by in our discussion.

If I ever get down there I'll smuggle you in some bacon.

I am actually in possession of said bacon (or also of the extremely smoky, even saltier Tyrolean variety), but I'm afraid that export laws prohibit me from sending some to you. But drop me a note if you're ever coming to Vienna, and I'll show you to the right shops... :-)
