Art and entertainment

The willingness to risk excess on behalf of one’s obsessions is what distinguishes artists from entertainers, and what makes some artists adventurous on behalf of us all.

Art is but another form of entertainment. One does not preclude the other.

The quality of or whatever value gleaned from any diversion is, as always, rather subjective.

Some of the greatest artists of all time happen to also be entertainers, and vice versa...

Shakespeare is an obvious example.

The 'willingness to risk excess on behalf of one's obsessions' has more to do with what we perceive as 'talent' than some false distinction between 'art' and 'entertainment.'
